Guwahati: Senior politician and former Union Minister Rajen Gohain has resigned from the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) citing personal reasons, bringing an end to his brief association with the regional party.

In a letter addressed to AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Gohain announced his decision to step down from the "primary membership and all posts and responsibilities" of the party with immediate effect.

"Through this letter, I, Rajen Gohain, hereby resign from the primary membership and from all posts and responsibilities associated with the Asom Jatiya Parishad with immediate effect due to personal reasons," the veteran leader wrote, while also expressing gratitude to the party leadership, ...
