Assam: Over 1.6 lakh remain flood-hit across 14 districts as death toll reaches 95
Guwahati, Aug. 6 -- Flood conditions continued to affect several parts of Assam on Wednesday (August 5), with over 1.6 lakh people still reeling under the impact across 14 districts, although the overall situation improved in some areas as water levels gradually receded. The cumulative flood death toll in the state this year has climbed to 95, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The ASDMA's daily flood report said 160,653 people living in 563 villages under 38 revenue circles remain affected by the current spell of flooding.
