Guwahati, Aug. 1 -- The Assam government will appoint an Orunodoi Sarthi in every Assembly constituency to strengthen the implementation of its flagship welfare scheme and provide on-the-ground support to beneficiaries, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday.

The announcement was made during the state-level disbursement ceremony of the first financial assistance for the 2026-27 financial year under Orunodoi 3.0, held at the Srimanta Damodardeva International Auditorium in Panjabari, Guwahati.

Sarma said around 3.7 million women across the state will receive financial assistance under the scheme during the current financial year.
