North Lakhimpur, Sept. 4 -- The 70th foundation anniversary of Assam's North Lakhimpur College, now a university, was celebrated on Thursday in a day-long programme.

Vice-Chancellor Mukul Chandra Bora inaugurated the celebration by hoisting the flag.

Maharajat Jayanti Celebration Committee President Uday Shankar Hazarika and dignitaries from various fields of Lakhimpur district also hoisted 75 flags.

The General Secretary of the Celebration Committee, Diganta Kalita, paid tribute to the deceased. Afterwards, the President and Secretary of the University Students' Union paid tributes to the martyrs.
