Guwahati: A man accused in the Morikolong robbery case was killed during an alleged exchange of fire between police and suspected criminals at Borkandoli in Rangalu under Assam's Nagaon district late on May 25.

The deceased, identified as Khairul Ali alias Moni from Thana Road in North Lakhimpur town, was reportedly among the main accused in the robbery case and had been evading arrest since the incident.

According to police, Khairul had allegedly returned to Nagaon on Monday night with plans to carry out another robbery. Acting on intelligence inputs about the gang's movement, a police team launched an operation in the Borkandoli area.
