Assam: Monitor explodes inside GMCH ICU, 10 patients shifted
Guwahati, Sept. 20 -- A monitor used for patient care exploded inside Medical Intensive Care Unit 2 (MICU 2) at Assam's Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at around 11.50 pm on Saturday, leading to the evacuation of patients from the unit.
The hospital shifted about 10 patients from MICU 2 to MICU 1 and the General ICU after the explosion, hospital authorities said.
A patient was reported to have died during the incident. The GMCH superintendent, however, said the patient's death had no connection with the explosion.
According to the superintendent, the patient had already died and the death certificate was issued before the monitor exploded.
