Guwahati, Aug. 15 -- Schools in Assam's Lakhimpur district will start classes earlier, effective Monday, as authorities have altered the daily schedule to protect students from the prevailing heat.

According to an order issued by the district education authorities, schools from lower primary to senior higher secondary level will begin classes at 7 am. The revised schedule will remain effective until further orders.

The directive, issued by Lakhimpur District Circle Inspector of Schools and District Primary Education Officer Bedabrata Gogoi, sets different closing times based on the level of education.
