Dibrugarh, Aug. 21 -- Dibrugarh Police on Thursday arrested Imtiaz Hussain, who is accused of duping several people of crores of rupees by promising jobs and shops in return for money, from his residence in the city.

Police said Hussain had locked himself inside his house to evade arrest. A police team, accompanied by a magistrate, reached the residence near the road connecting Chiring Chapori and Amolapatty and broke open the door before taking him into custody.

Hussain's wife was also arrested in connection with the case, the officer-in-charge of Dibrugarh police station said.

Several complaints and cases have reportedly been registered against Hussain in Dibrugarh.
