Guwahati, Aug. 8 -- Residents of Guwahati and nearby areas have been advised to prepare for another spell of rain, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) expecting thunderstorms and lightning during the next 24 hours.

The advisory issued at 8:30 am on Saturday will be in force until 8:30 am on August 9. Rainfall in the city is expected to remain light to moderate, with amounts of up to 6 cm.

Some isolated places may receive heavier rain between 7 cm and 11 cm. Several parts of the city could face waterlogging, particularly low-lying areas and underpasses.

The conditions may slow vehicles and increase travel time, while heavy rain could also reduce visibility.
