Guwahati, Nov. 4 -- Ghanakanta Gogoi, the prime accused in the Guwahati Bilas Inn shooting that claimed five lives, was killed in police firing in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4, following an alleged escape attempt in Assam's Sivasagar district.

According to the police, incident occurred when Gogoi was being transported from Guwahati to Sivasagar in connection with a separate case. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Papori Chetia claimed that the accused allegedly attempted to snatch the service pistol of Sub-Inspector Debashish Sharma, the investigating officer accompanying the police team.
