Guwahati, Aug. 28 -- Guwahati will have a direct air connection with Bangkok from October 27, with IndiGo scheduled to start flights between the two cities. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on X on Friday.

Direct flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi were launched earlier, while Bangkok will now be added to the city's international destinations.

Sarma said the new connection would offer another route to Southeast Asia and could help expand tourism, trade and travel in the region.

The service is also expected to make international travel easier for passengers from Assam and other parts of the Northeast.
