Guwahati, July 8 -- Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) felicitated its Professor of Practice, Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, at its Azara campus on July 8 after he was elected as a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London (FLS).

The fellowship is one of the recognised international honours in natural history and biological sciences.

Founded in 1788, the Linnean Society of London is the world's oldest active biological society. It promotes research and knowledge in natural history, evolution and taxonomy.

Fellowship of the society is awarded to individuals for significant contributions to these fields.

Bibhab Kumar Talukdar is also associated with the Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Studies (CWES) at GCU.
