Guwahati, Aug. 14 -- Gauhati University on Friday launched its Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), aimed at strengthening multidisciplinary and skill-oriented teacher education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Nani Gopal Mahanta said the role of teachers is evolving with changes in the education system, teaching methods and the needs of learners.

He said teachers must nurture responsibility, values, ethics, humanity and creative thinking while preparing future generations. Mahanta also stressed the need for teachers to continuously update their knowledge, skills and perspectives to meet the demands of a changing education system.
