Haflong, July 22 -- Fleming Rupsi, Member of the Autonomous Council (MAC), has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) during the council's 8th (253rd) session held at the assembly hall on Wednesday.

Rupsi was elected unanimously after MAC Ramgalungbe Jeme withdrew his nomination for the post. Following his election, council members and others felicitated him by presenting a traditional 'Risa'.

Representing the Jatinga constituency, Rupsi was elected to the NC Hills Autonomous Council for the third consecutive term in the 2024 elections. He had earlier served as an Executive Member of the council.
