Digboi, Aug. 24 -- Digboi Police have intensified their crackdown on drugs, illicit liquor and other illegal activities, with the latest operation leading to the arrest of two persons and the recovery of 29.01 grams of suspected heroin.

The arrests were made at Tingrai Point along the Margherita-Tinsukia road. The accused have been identified as Santanu Pait and Chetia Panging, both residents of Dhemaji.

Police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS-22-H-5559 and allegedly recovered two soap boxes containing an orange-coloured crystalline substance suspected to be heroin. The vehicle, three mobile phones and a Samsung tablet were also seized during the operation.
