Guwahati, Aug. 6 -- Nearly 50 social media accounts suspected of collecting money in the name of Assam flood relief are under investigation by the Assam Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has launched a probe into the alleged fundraising racket.

Police sources said the cyber cell is tracking these accounts for allegedly sharing UPI IDs and QR codes to solicit donations by claiming they were meant for flood relief.

Officials said all financial transactions linked to the identified accounts will be examined. They warned that anyone found misusing public donations meant for flood-affected people would face legal action.
