Guwahati, Aug. 7 -- Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota on Thursday reviewed the progress of flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in four of the state's worst-affected districts, directing officials to speed up damage assessment, financial assistance and livelihood restoration for affected families.

The review was conducted through a video conference with the district administrations of Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Golaghat as part of a meeting of the District Consultative Committee (DCC). The meeting was attended by district commissioners, representatives of banks, insurance companies and officials from various government departments.
