India, March 13 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Assistant Manager and Loan Officer of the State Bank of India (SBI) posted at the Gumi Branch in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Friday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 16,000 from a complainant for processing loan applications related to rooftop solar electrification.

According to an official statement issued by the CBI, the case was registered on March 12, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the accused bank official had demanded an undue advantage of Rs 16,000 to facilitate the processing of loan applications of customers seeking financial assistance for installing rooftop solar systems.
