Guwahati, July 8 -- Disciplinary action has been initiated against Lakhipur Electrical Sub-Division engineer Dibakar Das after the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) suspended him over alleged lapses in restoring electricity supply.

An order issued by APDCL's Chief General Manager (HR) confirmed that the suspension took effect immediately and will continue until the departmental inquiry is completed.

The inquiry will examine allegations that Das failed to restore electricity supply within a reasonable time and did not properly carry out his official duties.

According to local sources, residents of Binnakandi under the Lakhipur Sub-Division had been experiencing erratic electricity supply for several days.
