Doomdooma, Aug. 27 -- The Tinsukia district unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) staged a protest rally in Tinsukia town on Thursday against the rising prices of essential commodities and demanded immediate measures to curb inflation.

The protest was organised in response to a statewide call by AASU, which had announced demonstrations at district headquarters on August 27 against the rise in prices of food and other essential items.

The rally began near the AASU office on College Road and proceeded towards Thana Chariali.

Student activists voiced their opposition to the rising cost of essential commodities and demanded relief for the common people.
