Assam: 366 landslide prone sites identified across Kamrup Metro by ASDMA
Guwahati, June 30 -- The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has identified 366 landslide prone locations across Kamrup Metropolitan district, heightening concerns over public safety as heavy monsoon rains continue to affect Guwahati and its surrounding areas.
According to officials, the identified sites are spread across hilly and environmentally sensitive areas that have witnessed landslides or ground instability in the past. Several of these locations are situated along hill slopes, excavation zones and rapidly urbanising neighbourhoods where increasing human activity has intensified the risk of slope failures.
