Guwahati, Sept. 7 -- A 25-year-old woman was found dead inside a rented flat in Guwahati's Hatigaon area on Sunday, September 6, with police suspecting that she may have been murdered.

The deceased was identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami. Her body was recovered from a third-floor flat at Anjali Griha in Basisthapur Bylane after her family alerted the police.

Personnel from Hatigaon Police Station reached the premises and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Preliminary investigation reportedly found the room in a disordered condition, while bloodstains were also noticed on the floor. Police are examining the available evidence to determine the cause of death and reconstruct the sequence of events.
