Pathsala, Sept. 26 -- The Assam government is set to recruit 130 veterinary doctors and 200 livestock field assistants under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Bajali Guardian Minister Nilima Devi said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after a review meeting at the Bajali Deputy Commissioner's office, Devi said the government was undertaking several initiatives to strengthen the livestock sector and increase milk production across the state.

The minister emphasised the need to shift from traditional cattle-rearing methods towards scientific and commercially oriented livestock farming. She urged cattle farmers to adopt farm-based rearing practices and assured them of government support.
