Tinsukia, Sept. 29 -- An Assam Rifles patrol came under suspected militant fire near the Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district on Tuesday morning, leaving one jawan dead and four others injured, officials said.

The attack took place around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, where personnel of the 21 Assam Rifles were deployed for patrolling duties amid ongoing border fencing work.

Havildar Jankhokai Kuki, 42, was killed in the firing, while four other personnel sustained injuries, according to reports.

Security forces launched operations in the area following the attack to locate those responsible and secure the border stretch.
