Guwahati, April 8 -- Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on April 8 condemned Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his remarks against Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, terming them "shameful and unacceptable".
In a post on X, Gandhi said the Chief Minister had used "rude and derogatory language" against Kharge, calling the comments "despicable". She added that Kharge represents not only the Congress but also voices the concerns of marginalised communities.
"By insulting him, the BJP's Chief Minister has insulted crores of people," she said, and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify whether he endorses such remarks.
