India, Sept. 24 -- Yemen's humanitarian crisis is intensifying as millions face hunger, malnutrition and failing essential services, prompting humanitarian and civil-society organisations to urge world leaders at the UN General Assembly to increase support and protect aid access.
Millions Face Hunger and Malnutrition
According to a joint statement published by Oxfam and partner organisations on September 23, 22.3 million people across Yemen require humanitarian assistance and protection.
At least 18.3 million people are acutely food insecure.
More than 2.2 million children under five are acutely malnourished.
Another 1.3 million pregnant and breastfeeding women face acute malnutrition.
