India, Sept. 25 -- Three months after two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, thousands of families remain displaced and continue sleeping in tents beside damaged buildings, even as children return to classrooms across affected areas.
Families Face Ongoing Risk
The magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes on June 24 were the strongest seismic event recorded in Venezuela in more than 125 years. By August 24, authorities had reported 6,509 deaths, while 11,001 homes were classified as high risk among 60,785 assessed properties.
