India, Aug. 31 -- State and local leaders in the United States are exploring new funding mechanisms and partnerships to sustain refugee and immigrant integration programmes as federal support for resettlement continues to decline.
States Take a Larger Role
Officials from Maryland, Arizona, Iowa and Kentucky discussed their approaches at the International Rescue Committee's annual States Lay the Foundation summit. Participants said states and local governments were increasingly becoming the main providers of services supporting refugees and immigrants, including food assistance, healthcare access and workforce development.
