India, Oct. 21 -- UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, UNICEF, called for urgent investment in children in Bangladesh and measures to end child marriage in a press release dated 20 October 2026, following a three-day visit that included meetings with families in Korail, Dhaka, and Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox’s Bazar.
Russell said action was needed to end child marriage and keep girls in school, deliver on the Government’s commitment to invest five per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product in both education and in health, and protect quality learning for Rohingya and host-community children.
