India, Oct. 5 -- Children across Ukraine endured more than 7,700 air raid alarms between July and September, a 27% increase from the previous three months, as attacks on civilian areas intensified and child casualties climbed, Save the Children said. The organisation's analysis found that the third quarter recorded the highest number and total duration of alerts in any three-month period since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Kyiv sees sharp rise in alerts
Kyiv alone recorded around 190 alarms from the start of September, three times the number reported in July. Daytime warnings have also become more frequent. More than 60% of alerts in August and September occurred between 7am and 11pm, compared with 38% in July.
