India, Sept. 11 -- Children in Uganda's northeastern Karamoja region are facing a worsening nutrition crisis as El Nino-linked dry spells reduce food availability and put additional pressure on vulnerable families.
Acute malnutrition climbs
The number of children suffering from acute malnutrition in Karamoja has increased from 122,100 to 154,200, according to new figures from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification. The rise means 32,100 additional children now require nutrition support. Save the Children warned that the number is expected to increase by another 25% by October 2026.
