India, Aug. 5 -- Twenty years after 17 humanitarian workers were killed in Sri Lanka's eastern town of Muttur, Amnesty International has called on the government to end decades of impunity by ensuring an independent and credible investigation into the case.
Two Decades Without Accountability
The victims, all employees of Action Against Hunger (ACF), were found shot dead at the organisation's office in Muttur on August 4, 2006, during intense fighting in Sri Lanka's civil war. The massacre remains one of the deadliest attacks ever carried out against humanitarian workers worldwide.
