India, Aug. 3 -- Save the Children has urged Spanish authorities to prioritise the protection of children arriving in Ceuta as a fresh surge in migrant crossings places growing pressure on the enclave's reception and child welfare systems.
Child safety must come first
Save the Children said children reaching Ceuta should be treated as vulnerable individuals first and foremost, regardless of their migration status. The organisation called for immediate identification of unaccompanied and at risk children, along with access to shelter, healthcare, psychological support and legal assistance. It also stressed that every child should receive an individual assessment before any administrative decision is made.
