India, Aug. 25 -- The Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh is entering its tenth year with shrinking humanitarian funding putting essential services in Cox's Bazar under growing strain, Oxfam warned on August 24, 2026. Nearly 1.2 million Rohingya refugees are currently living in Bangladesh, including around 150,000 who fled renewed violence in Myanmar since early 2024.
Humanitarian Funding Falls Short
The recalibrated 2026 Joint Response Plan seeks $710.5 million, 26 percent less than the previous year's requirement. Oxfam said the reduced target is only enough to maintain minimum lifesaving assistance.
