India, Sept. 21 -- Fresh anti-corruption demonstrations are expected across the Philippines on September 21, a year after mass protests over alleged corruption in flood-control projects, prompting Amnesty International to call on authorities to protect peaceful assembly and avoid excessive force.
Protests planned one year later
The demonstrations coincide with the anniversary of the 2025 protests and the commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law in 1972, a date that has historically been associated with public mobilization and demands for accountability.
