India, Aug. 31 -- A catastrophic flood and massive landslide along Nepal's northern border have devastated communities, destroyed infrastructure and left hundreds of people dead or missing, according to Plan International and reports from the affected region. The disaster struck on August 26 after an ice-and-rock avalanche triggered a powerful debris flow that surged through the Bhotekoshi river system.
