India, Sept. 17 -- Amnesty International has called for international criminal justice against Iranian officials it says were responsible for crimes against humanity during the suppression of the 2022 Woman Life Freedom uprising, warning that continued impunity could enable further mass killings.
Report Identifies 87 Officials
In a new report marking four years since the uprising began, Amnesty documents alleged crimes including murder, torture, rape, enforced disappearance, imprisonment and persecution on political, gender, ethnic and religious grounds. The organisation identified 87 officials who it says should face criminal investigations, including 10 national-level officials and 77 at regional, provincial and county levels.
