India, Aug. 18 -- The devastating earthquake that struck Indonesia's Flores Island has disrupted education for at least 25,765 children, with hundreds of schools and classrooms damaged across East Nusa Tenggara, according to Plan Indonesia.
512 Schools Affected
Preliminary mapping by the National Secretariat for the Safe Education Unit found that 512 schools across seven districts have been affected. Of these, 166 schools suffered severe damage, while 478 classrooms were severely damaged.
The affected districts include Nagekeo, Ende, Ngada, Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Manggarai and Sikka. Access remains difficult in several areas, with two primary schools in Ende and an early childhood education centre in East Manggarai still inacces...
