India, Sept. 7 -- A recent gang attack in Kenscoff, a rural community outside Haiti's capital, has left at least 47 people dead and 50 kidnapped, highlighting an escalating cycle of violence and repeated displacement, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) said.
Kenscoff faces repeated attacks
Kenscoff has faced several attacks by armed gangs since 2025. More than 2,600 people were displaced in the latest incident, with many having already fled their homes multiple times.
The IRC said insecurity has become a persistent feature of daily life, with reports of kidnappings, forced recruitment and sexual violence.
Fear of retaliation can prevent survivors and affected residents from seeking assistance until violence has intensified.
