India, Oct. 13 -- A flash flood triggered by a landslide-blocked river bursting through has caused extensive damage in Nepal's Gorkha District, destroying more than 35 homes and six bridges, according to CARE Nepal. At least 10 people are missing, while around 125 to 150 people have been directly affected.
Communities Cut Off as Flood Risk Persists
The disaster has isolated several communities from essential services, with thousands of people living downstream remaining on alert as the threat of further flooding continues.
In a statement issued on October 11 in Kathmandu, Nilkantha Pandey, CARE Nepal's director for programme development and delivery, said the situation was being monitored as assessments continued.
