India, Sept. 17 -- EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called for stronger action to make digital environments safer for children, with Save the Children urging technology companies to take greater responsibility for children's online safety.

Speaking during her State of the European Union address on September 16, von der Leyen highlighted the need to hold technology companies accountable for children's safety online. She said the European Union has the power to ensure that responsibility for protecting children in digital environments rests with digital service providers.
