India, July 23 -- Save the Children has called on European Union member states to ensure that children's rights remain protected as governments prepare to implement a new migration regulation that the organisation says could expose migrant and refugee children to detention and other rights violations.
Campaign launched ahead of September adoption
The appeal comes ahead of the formal adoption of the EU's Return Regulation, expected in September after receiving approval in the European Parliament in June. Save the Children argues that several provisions in the regulation conflict with existing EU fundamental rights standards, particularly those concerning children.
