India, Sept. 23 -- One year after Amnesty International documented the enforced disappearance of 10 people on Ecuador's coast, including six children, the organisation says families are still waiting for answers as military authorities withhold information from criminal investigations.
Court Rulings Bring Limited Progress
Some legal developments have emerged over the past year. In December 2025, a lower court convicted 16 military personnel over the enforced disappearance of four boys from Guayaquil's Las Malvinas neighbourhood. In February 2026, Ecuador's Constitutional Court ordered the Air Force commander to issue a public apology to their families.
