India, July 30 -- Environmental activists in Ecuador have renewed pressure on the government to eliminate gas flares in the Amazon, saying a historic court ruling delivered five years ago remains only partially implemented despite its significance for public health and environmental protection.

The campaign is led by the "Guerreras por la Amazonia" (Warriors for the Amazon), a group of young environmental defenders who successfully challenged the state's gas flaring practices in 2021.
