India, Aug. 12 -- The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has surpassed the total number of cases recorded during the 2018-2020 outbreak in less than three months, prompting the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to intensify community-based efforts to detect infections and counter misinformation.

Community Leaders Trained

The IRC is training local leaders and volunteers across high-risk areas of Ituri province to identify potential cases, promote preventive measures and address concerns surrounding the disease. The programme covers 15 health areas in Bunia, Rwampara and Nyankunde, along with six additional training sessions in Goma.
