India, Nov. 3 -- Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières called for the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Mohammed Obeid, a Palestinian orthopedic surgeon detained by Israeli authorities without any charges for more than two years, after he was detained on Oct. 26, 2024 while providing medical care at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
Detention and conditions
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières said Dr. Mohammed Obeid has been held in harsh conditions since his detention and has had no direct contact with his family.
According to the organization, Dr. Obeid’s only contact with the outside world has been infrequent visits from his lawyer.
