India, Sept. 9 -- Direct Relief has stepped up medical assistance for flood-hit Nepal, sending emergency medicines and supplies as damaged roads and infrastructure continue to restrict access to healthcare in some of the worst-affected districts. The humanitarian organisation said more than 21 tons of medical aid are currently delivered, en route or being processed for the response.

A shipment of more than 14 tons left Direct Relief's warehouse in California on September 2 for Mountain Heart Nepal.
