India, Oct. 8 -- Tropical Storm Isaias is strengthening over the Gulf of Mexico, prompting health organisations to prepare for disruptions as the system moves toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. Direct Relief is coordinating with healthcare providers and has medical supplies positioned in communities that could face the storm's impact.

Storm Threat Intensifies

Isaias was forecast to strengthen into a hurricane before reaching the coast, with landfall expected Friday. Direct Relief said some areas from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle could receive as much as 10 inches of rain. The National Hurricane Center had also issued hurricane and storm surge watches as the storm approached the northern Gulf Coast.
