New York, Oct. 21 -- One of the worst cholera outbreaks in a decade is spreading across Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but the health care system remains unequipped to respond to and slow down an outbreak of this scale, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) warned today.
Twenty of the country's 26 provinces are now affected. From January to mid-October, more than 58,000 suspected cases and more than 1,700 deaths have been recorded, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
