India, Aug. 13 -- Thousands of families in western Colombia are facing urgent shortages of shelter, safe drinking water and food after a powerful earthquake damaged or destroyed thousands of homes and disrupted essential services.
7.4-Magnitude Quake Leaves Heavy Damage
Colombia declared a national emergency after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the western part of the country on Monday. According to Save the Children, at least 224 people were killed, while around 9,521 homes were damaged or destroyed.
